Dota 2 Coming Soon?

Most of us already know that currently IceFrog is working with Valve to develop a new game inspired by DotA. However, we got no further information about it yet. We still don't know anything , the game name (will it be DotA 2?), the release date estimation or even the platform (very possible on PC considering the Valve background, but hey, there's no official information yet!).

But recently, IceFrog has just made a post that his new game with Valve will be come on the near future.
Of course, as we know with DotA, near future is very relative. But considering from what usually happen on Dota, i think it could be around 3-6 months. Here's IceFrog post on the PlayDota forum:


What do you think guys? Will it be named Dota 2 or maybe it will come on totally different name and concept? Can it beat Heroes of Newerth or League of Legends which already come to public? I hope IceFrog will give us a sneak peek on what he worked right now really soon.. @_@

    somehow people race each other to get the first, second and so on posts. they relate it to dota kills, that is , first blood, double kill, triple kill, etc

    wtf? AotA sounds like aorta, dumb name.

    yeah please give dota 2 (or whatsitsname) a (not too low) maybe medium graphics, in which average PCs can play. Because as far as Im concerned, HONs graphics really demanded HIGH video cards, graphics cards and the HIGH RAMs

    All I can say is that "DotA 2" (for lack of a better name) is currently in the Alpha testing stage. A release time-frame of 3-6 months is not going to happen.

    I wish that Icefrog's project will not be cancelled... I really pity him... because he sacrifices his time making dota updates without being paid... I really love Icefrog for doing that... Thanks Icefrog, Good Luck.

    Well, i hope Dota 2 would be something like a First Person View type of game with all the heroes and stuff. Since this IS valve we are talking about, it does has the possibility of being a First Person Shooter since Valve made Counterstrike and all.
    Anyways, praying hard it would be just what i am imagining right now. =D

    how can u ask if it can beat hon or lol? league of legends is total crap. its made for little kids who like to own noobies. and its so unbalanced and awful game.

    heroes of newerth is getting worse every patch coz s2 doesn't know how this game is supposed to be. they ruin every hero and the heros they make themselves are just total bull****.

    i bet the s2 team has never played dota much since the basics suck in every hero that comes. ive played over 1200 games in hon and its going worse and worse. im now on brake coz its so bad due to current patch with striders. jeez.

    and to give a little vision how the new heros suck. Every hero is tweaked more than 2 times after their first appereance. and just for more example they imported sniper in the current patch. it has proxximately 10 higher min and max dmg. and the first skill is instant. im like wtf. makes no sense. and even the headshot has 10 more dmg.

    Yeah, I get you, I'm playing HoN as well, but I play DotA more :)) For me, DotA will always be the best, and the most original game of any of those copy+pasting idiots. And HoN is really imbalanced. I could do a better job balancing than them.

    Newsflash!! Check out Dark Lady, or Scout! Your mother is more balanced than them! You obviously have little knowledge of HoN as it seems. There are also a ton of heroes which are imbalanced there. Not to mention items, like Harkon's. That's the most imba item I've ever seen.
